. creature comforts .
Sundays are a day of rest.
And so we rested…

Oh, to have a dog's life... I brought out some pillows for myself to lay on while I was out basking in the sun this afternoon, and I probably should have put more effort into guarding them because as soon as I went inside to grab a drink, my comfy spot was stolen from me by this little creature...

I didn't have the heart to wake her up and tell her to move (she looked so cute and comfy!), but apparently she was in a good mood today, and decided to be nice and give me back my spot when I went back outside. Thanks Kaiah; my tan owes you one.
… all. day. long…
. – . – . – .
Hello, hello beauts. I tried my best to cut down (it’s hard to stay away completely!!) on the time I spent in front of the computer this weekend, and since I’m not really in the mood for writing tonight (oddly, I’d rather be catching up with all of your lovely lives), this post is going to be short, sweet, and to the point.
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend, full of good times and good food.
And, I hope that you’ve all having an equally enjoyable evening (also full of good times and good food, naturally).
I’m off to cozy up to a big bowl of this…

Tonight was going to be a movie night, but we couldn't really think of anything we wanted to watch so we decided to make it a game night instead. But, movie or game, popcorn still makes a perfect snack. I enjoyed my bowl with melted vegan butter, sea salt, and a sprinkle of nooch. Perfection.
… while I do my best to defend my title of “Undefeated Scrabble Champion”. Nevermind that the challengers’ [read: Mom & Dad] first language isn’t English, while mine is; such minor details are irrelevant and don’t change a thing *cough*…
Happy Sunday, loves.
Do you enjoy Sundays? I used to really dislike them because they were too slow for my tastes (I tend to prefer go-go-go), but I’ve been putting in more of an effort to relax lately, and I find that I’m actually starting to enjoy Sundays more and more. Of course, that might all change once school starts up again, and the prospect of Monday becomes less appealing….
What’s your favorite board game? I’m a big fan of Scrabble, but some of my other favorites include Monopoly, Clue, Life, Trouble, Battleship, and Jenga.

I have a similar view on Sundays – i used to hate them because i was always so used to the “routine” that I was in – i wasn’t used to sleeping in and just relaxing – now i actually am starting to like this free time – time to just catch up and get ready for another week or just relax and appreciate not having to do anything!!!!
I love board games and also love Scrabble (although im never the winner!!!), Batttleship – this was a childhood favorite of me and my older brother and CLue (who killed Col Mustard????)
Have a great Monday – p.s. love the doggie pictures
Sundays are my “get things done” days. I clean what I need to clean, and what not.
I use to have fun playing board games with my dad and stepmom, when I visited them regularly. We are all very competitive, and sometimes it was more like a war than a game. Haha! My favorites are Cranium and Clue. I HATE Monopoly and Jenga just makes me nervous
<3 Tori
I love game nights! My mom was always breaking them out at home- and still does over the holidays. Scrabble and Scategories are favorites in my household.
Enjoy the rest of your evening!
i love to go go go as well, but during the school year when I am burnt out, I love Sundays!!!
Hi Amanda!
I have been following and reading your blog for quite some time, however this is my first comment! I enjoy hearing about your life and discoveries… and Kaiah is an ADORABLE new addition
Sunday’s aren’t my thing. I enjoy weekdays, where shops and stores open early and close late, and I have options as to where my day can takes me.
My favorite board games are Scrabble, Apples to Apples (though it doesn’t really include a “board”), Pictionary, and Upwords (If you haven’t heard of the latter, check it out! It is a 3-D, stacking version of Scrabble.)
I hope that the beginning to your new week is peaceful!
awh, Kaiah <3 don't they have the perfect timing when it comes to stealing the couch, pillows, etc? my Kaia has got my mom totally pegged, too – my mom will never ask her to move when she steals her couch. Rather, she'll sit on the floor, haha.
Sounds like yours was perfectly spent, though – and have fun with scrabble!!
My Sundays have been busier than my weekdays lately – I almost miss lazy Sundays! …and then I remember that I'd probably get antsy in a matter of hours
risk is fun !!
I eat a bag of popcorn everyday.. yummyyy in my tummyyyy
Dana xo
Ahhh your dog! So cute.
Nothing beats cozying up with a big bowl of popcorn, no? And to think it’s actually healthy, too…relatively low-cal, whole-grain, and fiberlicious. Scrabble is definitely a favorite, but I also enjoy Sequence and old-fashioned card games i.e. Euchre and Hearts!
Where are your parents from originally?
I’m not much of a board game player, but I enjoy a game of Scrabble every now and then. I’ve been curious about playing Bananagrams too, since it’s so similar to Scrabble.
As for Sundays…during the times in my life when I work Monday to Friday, I don’t care for Sundays because I tend to be preoccupied (sadly) thinking about the work week. But when I don’t, they’re a great day to relax, hang out with my boyfriend or visit with family or friends.
My parents came over from Poland a few years before I was born
Aww sounds like you had a happy, tech-free Sunday. Those can be the best – esspec with the addition of game night! I used to hate Sundays because I felt cheated out of a day of sleeping in, when my parents would drag me out to Sunday school (which, of course, started bright and early at 9:30 – practically a school day), but have now learned to cherish the day where I can sleep in to the outraaageous hour of 7 AM.
I’m an English nerd – it’s all about Scrabble and Boggle ovah here. At the same time, I wouldn’t say no to a Monopoly tourney every now and then ;P
Enjoy the remaining hours of your weekend, hun!

ah, board games! Used to play them allll the time when camping with my family. But haven’t touched one in years. I loved Monopoly, and loads of past paced card games! Phase 10, Uno, alll of them! I love Sundays cause of how leasurely they are, but dislike them being the last day I get to be with hubby full time… More weekends, please!! And your dog is beaauuutiful!
Yep, I used to hate them too. I do like them cause thats when all the farmers markets take place and who doesn’t love a farmers market? I also like sundays because of True Blood and Entourage, its my man candy night! I know many people take sundays off from working out, but I love working out on sundays cause the gym isn’t as crowded. Is it strange I actually prefer mondays? I guess I like when everyone goes back to work or school, it feels like the city has a pulse.
I used to love chutes and ladders as a kid. I always won and I always has to be the “black kid”, he was my lucky charm! I also used to love Chinese Checkers, if anyone remembers that.
I’m the same way with Sundays… while I don’t really like breaks in routine, I do love my Sundays!! It’s the only time I ever get to do things that I want to do instead of going to work. Sob sob.
I played Scrabble tonight, too! It’s my favorite board game, ever. Unfortunately, it’s rather difficult to coerce someone into playing with me!
<3 <3
My opinion of Sunday night depends on what I have planned for Monday morning…right now I am enjoying Sunday!
I am not a huge game person but I do like Boggle. Ali and I used to play it all the time. And then Maya happened and like most other things Boggle got shoved in a closet somewhere.
Frick, Kaiah is gorgeous and so adorable. I wouldn’t have had the heart to make her move either.
As for Sundays, I love them! They’re the one day where I can just totally relax and let myself unwind. Today I didn’t leave the house at all!
Not sure if that’s something to be proud of..
My favorite board game is and will always be Life. There’s just something ridiculously fun about it even when you’ve played it a million times.
I am a huge Scrabble fan too! I don’t like Sundays very much – I am a much bigger fan of Fri and Saturdays.
Haha look at my post..it seems I’m one of the few who hates Sundays. Maybe in time I will learn to relax more when I have busy weekdays but it’s probably because everyday seems the same to me at the moment so I’m always wanting to find things to do whereas my parents work so they want to chill!
Aww Kaiah is just adorable! My cats are the same when it comes to stealing my spot! I’m sure they do it on purpose for attention..
Gosh I haven’t played any games in soo long! I used to love Uno, Scategories, Game of Life and Cranium. Those were the days haha..
Ooh I like all the board games you mention, but you absolutely MUST try Boggle! It is by far my favourite game ever, mainly because no one has ever beaten me at it
I’m no good at Scrabble, but I play a mean game of Boggle
Sarah x
I love playing games
And popcorn, I so adore popcorn, and need it right now
Monopoly is my favorite one, but I also like Boggle and I adore Pictionary.
And I like games that can be played without any boards or anything, like mime, it can be so much fun!
I don’t like Sundays either, they always were depressing to me. Everybody getting ready for the week, just resting, watching tv, too boring
I have heard so much about Sunday”itis” around the blog world lately, I think we all think Sundays are too slow for us! with the shops closed and nothing to do. But it can be relaxing, a time to read the papers, watch Sunday Movies and going for leisurely walks. I love scrabble too! even if all my words arent necessarily dictionary worthy!
Ooof I am sorry I’ve been MIS Amanada. I promise I will get to your e-mail sometime soon
Game night!? It’s been ages since I’ve done that with my family! I should definitely start that up again
I love scrabble.. and twister (although I don’t think my parents would be down for that one).. and jenga.. and guess who =)
<3 Tat
hello Amanda
hehe
my name is karlie and im new to the blog world, C:
and im unsure how to get in the blogging loop? haha
well anyways hope we can be fellow bloggie followers
find me, at http://girlthatruns.wordpress.com/ bye
I love Sundays, but during the school year I don’t like Sunday night because it means the weekend is almost over. It’s nice to have an excuse not to do anything for a day, though!! Favorite board game = CandyLand and Chutes and Ladders. Would it be weird to say that my brother and I still play them when we’re bored?
Hope you have a wonderful Monday love!! xoxo
I love Sundays because I love going to my church. I am a huge board game fan! Well, really I just like games
My favorite growing up was Scattergories. Now I like playing cards, bananagrams (kinda like scrabble), and yahtzee. Hope your evening was gun!
Aw, your dog is a cutie. Usually when I try to relax I end up with the same problem, but instead of the dog and cats stealing my pillows they just lay on top of me (so much for relaxing). I honestly don’t know what my favorite board game is! I like Monopoly a lot, so I guess I’ll go with that one. I love playing games, my family and I used to do that together all the time on holidays.
Haha, I love that Kaiah is getting more and more space in your blog (and on your pillow too:)) I won’t be surprised if she writes her own entry someday. I haven’t played a board game for too long and after I read your post I started to miss it. I used to love Monopoly and Scrabble too. I love popcorn, but the problem is that he doesn’t love me. I used to have terrible stomach aches after I ate it so I didn’t eat it for ages. But a few days ago I went to the movies to see Inception and I bought mini popcorn, I thought that maybe something changed and nothing would happen to my stomach. It was the worst idea of the history of my bad ideas because after a few minutes I started to feel like I ate a few balloons and after the movie I couldn’t even walk because the pain was killing me. After that I don’t think I will ever eat popcorn again (sigh)
I like Sundays only because it means Monday is next, and then I get to be busy again! It’s kind of a sad way to look at it, but I hate sitting around and relaxing, which is the whole point of Sunday, right?
I love board games! I think my favorite one depends on who I’m playing with… my sister and I love to play Trouble or Sorry! With my friends, it’s usually Apples to Apples or Scrabble
love sundays and saturdays..
your dog photo is so cute!
I hate Sundays that involve doing last minute homework or studying. But if I’ve got nothing school-related to do, then I love them! When school gets busy and Fridays/Saturdays are spent being social, it is SO nice to have a day to yourself to do nothing.
Board games with the family sounds like such a nice way to spend the evening! My favourite board games are Monopoly and Cranium! Or Trivial Pursuit if it’s an easy edition haha.
i too made it a point to not be on my computer so much this weekend. monday morning was quite the surprise in my google reader. woah! that’s’ funny bc i used to hate sundays too but my friends and i were saying how we instead of dreading monday coming, enjoy sunday to the fullest so monday isn’t too bad
have a great week!
i used to LOVE the board game life.
I don’t usually play board games because i just get way too competitive and it aways ends in tears (no…it literally does!)….. used to love a board game called “frustration” when i was younger …must dig that out of the loft actually! Oooh and pictionary was always fun too! My artistic skillss were never ever the best though, shall we say!
Hhaha!!! my cats do the same as your dog! its usually on my pillows they decide to lay though…..ANNOYING but so cute xx
I used to hate Sundays, but I don’t really mind them anymore. Even when I have school on Mondays, I am okay with it. I’m usually ready to go back to school after a few days off. I know this makes me sound like a total nerd, but I actually kind of enjoy being a student. It gives me something productive to put my focus on, instead of letting all the other things that are going on in my life bring me down. Yes, I’m a perfectionist and put a lot of pressure on myself, but I do that in all areas of my life, so school is no different..it’s almost like an escape sometimes though.
And Sundays aren’t usually that slow for me. I have so much to do on any given day, and on my days off I usually have errands.
It looks like you had a really nice and relaxing Sunday. And I’m loving the pictures of your beautiful pup that have been popping up lately! How fun that you spent the night playing boardgames. I don’t think I’ve played any games in years…you just reminded me of how much I miss them! I remember playing Monopoly, Scrabble, and Trivial Pursuit as kid. I was actually pretty good as Scrabble. And I was good at Twister, which we used to play at parties, but that’s not exactly a board game!
Hope you’re having a good Monday love <3
awww! i have to say, i really love seeing your posts start with pictures of your dog. it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
thanks for that.
i do enjoy sundays, though not as much as school days. like you, i like to be “going!” but calming down and taking it slow is something i am working on, too. for sure.
my favorite board game is wahoo because of the nostalgia. it’s super old and i’ve never seen or head of another copy. i even looked it up online, but nothing. i posted a picture of the board game on one of my earliest posts: http://perfectimperfectionist.wordpress.com/2010/07/09/dysfunctional-family-fun/
i love reading your posts! thanks so much, amanda. i hope you are having a great monday, too.
I don’t really like Sundays – for me, they mean the end of the weekend, the night before work, and the day I have to leave home to go back to my apartment…pretty negative, right?
I do like them because of church and Sundays are usually the day my dad cooks a tasty dinner for the family.
My favorite board games are Scrabble, Scattergories (it’s sort of a board game, right?), Rush (LOL), and Clue.
My dog always steals my spots too! It seems sinful to make a cute sleeping dog move though. We’re such pushovers. Haha I enjoy Sundays because I try to make mine veryyy relaxed!
Gah, I still hate Sundays sometimes because they mean that Mondays are so close. However, I’m startingto like them more and more too.
For some reason I’ve never been much of a Scrabble person… I really like Monopoly too. Must be the money.
Amanda how I missed your posts while I took a little blogging break! Sundays…hate em!! I am always dreading Monday…which mean school and work yuck! My favorite board game would have to be Life! I always loved that as a kid. Or checkers…that’s a classic
once again, your dog is SO cute!! How old is she?
